filming and editing

Having already filmed around 50seconds of our video everything is going well, we have three different locations, one being the pavilion with which we (as a band) perform in front of. The idea of using acoustic instruments out in the open creates a good image for our band and is a typical low budget, indie convention. We have also filmed footage of the band in front of three coloured garages, this image works well and could also be used as a possible digipack image. The other location is a grassy field with a path running through it, this is where some of our narrative takes place of me and ollie which conveys the relationship of which the song talks about. We have also filmed little bits of footage in locations such as my house to show other aspects of narrative and stages of the relationship.

I have just found this video by bombay bicycle club, one of our similar artists. I had not seen this video before we filmed the footage we have. However i have found that many aspects are similar in this video to ours, they have also used the idea of performing in fron of garages, showing that as we though this is an indie convention to show they are from middle class surroundings, and have a low budget.

They have also used the idea of performing in outside locations, the stripped down version of a performance creates a personal link with the audience and portrays indie trates, for example in a pop/RnB video is is generic to use flash cars, jewelery, nice houses and things that portray wealth, where as an indie band strives to achieve the image that they are 'all about the music' and are not concerned with high class locations/mise en scene as this is not their specific target audience.

Also in todays lesson we decided to try and super impose some footage of one band member on to an old fashioned tv, this has also been used in this video. This creates a vintage image.

Having found similarities in our video and this one i feel happy that we are on the right track for our genre.
