Indie wasn't a very successful music genre until the millenium where it really hit off and became a huge success. The Internet has caused a boom in the music industry it means that anyone is able to watch any music they wish and can easily download it. indie in the past was a small genre as it struggled to get publicity due to the ever growing mainstream and big companies which produce massively in all genre's. The nice thing about the indie scene is the home grown feel and that they have produced all their music themselves and made themselves big.

As there are so many parts to music now their are lots of hybrid music and sub genres appear. For example with Inide their are numerous parts to it.
